A Parents Who Spent 16 Days With Her Dᴇᴀᴅ Baby Girl Shared Hᴇᴀʀᴛʙʀᴇᴀᴋɪɴɢ Photos
Sent 16 DAYS with her dead baby girl has shared D photos from the experience – which saw her take her daughter’s body home and even for walks in a pram. Bʀᴀᴠᴇ Charlotte Szakacs, 21, and her husband Attila Szakacs, 28, were given the ᴅᴇᴠᴀsᴛᴀᴛɪɴɢ news their baby girl Evlyn had a ᴅᴇʙɪʟɪᴛᴀᴛɪɴɢ ᴄʜʀᴏᴍᴏsᴏᴍᴇ ᴀʙɴᴏʀᴍᴀʟɪᴛʏ after a 20-week sᴄᴀɴ in September 2016

Paint technician Charlotte and engineer Attila stayed at the hospice for 12 days while Evlyn was kept in a refrigerated ‘cuddle cot’ and were allowed to take her out for family walks – before the first-time parents took Evlyn home for four days before her Fᴜɴᴇʀᴀʟ on January 26.
“I was really nervous about bringing her home because I didn’t know if it would feel right but it was so nice to have her there. And it wasn’t just for us but for Evlyn so she got to come home.

Charlotte had to have sᴄᴀɴs every two weeks throughout her pregnancy and at 37 weeks, Evlyn waas ᴅᴇʟɪᴠᴇʀᴇᴅ ʙʏ ᴄᴀᴇsᴀʀᴇᴀɴ ᴀs ᴛʜᴇ ʙʟᴏᴏᴅ Fʟᴏᴡ ᴛᴏ ʜᴇʀ ᴍᴜᴍ’s ᴘʟᴀᴄᴇɴᴛᴀ ʜᴀᴅ sᴛᴀʀᴛᴇᴅ ᴛᴏ Fᴀɪʟ. The newborn was rushed to a ventilator as soon as she was born and mum Charlotte did not get to see her for seven hours – and could not hold her for three days. Evlyn’s narrowed airways meant she could not ʙʀᴇᴀᴛʜᴇ on her own and so could not have the heart sᴜʀɢᴇʀʏ sʜᴇ ɴᴇᴇᴅᴇᴅ ᴛᴏ sᴜʀᴠɪᴠᴇ.
But even if the little girl had pulled through, doctors told her parents she would have Fᴀᴄᴇᴅ ᴀ ʟɪFᴇ ᴡɪᴛʜ ʜᴇᴀʀɪɴɢ, sɪɢʜᴛ ᴀɴᴅ sᴘᴇᴇᴄʜ ᴘʀᴏʙʟᴇᴍs ᴀɴᴅ sᴇᴠᴇʀᴇ ᴍᴇɴᴛᴀʟ ᴀɴᴅ ᴘʜʏsɪᴄᴀʟ ᴅɪsᴀʙɪʟɪᴛɪᴇs. While Charlotte would give anything to have her daughter with her, the mum said she knows that Evlyn is in a better place.
Charlotte said: “When we got the news after the 20 week sᴄᴀɴ, Attila and I completely ʙʀᴏᴋᴇ ᴅᴏᴡɴ. I think we ʙʀᴏᴋᴇ ᴅᴏᴡɴ more then than when we lost her because at that point we just had no idea what it all meant.”
Not being able to hold her for so long was really difficult and even when we could hold her, the nurses had to pick her up and place her on us so you don’t really feel like you’re being a mum.
“I’ve never really felt like a mum. I feel like when I was pregnant and I had all the stuff ready for Evlyn but now I’m just not pregnant. It’s hard to explain, it doesn’t feel real – I’m just empty.I would love to have her here, I would give so much to have that, but we have no idea what her life would have been like. At least now she isn’t sᴜFFᴇʀɪɴɢ.”
