Sisters Abigail and Micaela were ᴊᴏɪɴᴇᴅ ᴀᴛ ᴛʜᴇ ʜᴇᴀᴅ. Nine-month-old ᴄᴏɴᴊᴏɪɴᴇᴅ twin sisters are ʀᴇᴄᴏᴠᴇʀɪɴɢ ᴡᴇʟʟ ᴀFᴛᴇʀ ʙᴇɪɴɢ sᴇᴘᴀʀᴀᴛᴇᴅ ɪɴ ᴀ ᴍᴀʀᴀᴛʜᴏɴ sᴜʀɢᴇʀʏ. Abigail and Micaela Bachinskiy were born as ᴄʀᴀɴɪᴏᴘᴀɢᴜs twins. It’s an extremely ʀᴀʀᴇ ᴄᴏɴᴅɪᴛɪᴏɴ where twins are born ᴊᴏɪɴᴇᴅ ᴀᴛ ᴛʜᴇ ʜᴇᴀᴅ. ᴄʀᴀɴɪᴏᴘᴀɢᴜs twins occur in one in every 2.5 million births.  The twins’ mom, Liliya, learned of their ᴄᴏɴᴅɪᴛɪᴏɴ when she was just 11 weeks pregnant. She ʀᴇᴄᴇɪᴠᴇᴅ ᴇxᴛᴇɴsɪᴠᴇ ᴘʀᴇɴᴀᴛᴀʟ ᴄᴀʀᴇ to make sure the girls stayed healthy in ᴜᴛᴇʀᴏ. Abigail and Micaela were born in December 2019 and spent seven weeks in the Nᴇᴏɴᴀᴛᴀʟ Iɴᴛᴇɴsɪᴠᴇ Cᴀʀᴇ Uɴɪᴛ at UC Davis Children’s Hospital, where they would ᴜʟᴛɪᴍᴀᴛᴇʟʏ ᴜɴᴅᴇʀɢᴏ ᴛʜᴇ sᴜᴄᴄᴇssFᴜʟ 24-ʜᴏᴜʀ sᴜʀɢᴇʀʏ ᴛᴏ sᴇᴘᴀʀᴀᴛᴇ them.

“We have felt so much support from staff. We have received so much help, so much advice. It has made us feel at home here,” Liliya said in a statement.

When the girls turned nine months old, their sᴜʀɢᴇᴏɴs ᴅᴇᴄɪᴅᴇᴅ ɪᴛ ᴡᴀs ᴛɪᴍᴇ ᴛᴏ sᴇᴘᴀʀᴀᴛᴇ them.

“As they get older, there are ᴍᴏʀᴇ ʀɪsᴋs ᴏf sʜᴀʀᴇᴅ ʙʟᴏᴏᴅ ᴠᴇssᴇʟs ᴀɴᴅ ᴏʀɢᴀɴs ʙᴇᴄᴏᴍɪɴɢ ʟᴀʀɢᴇʀ ᴏʀ ᴍᴏʀᴇ ᴇɴᴛᴡɪɴᴇᴅ. Tʜᴇ ᴜᴘᴄᴏᴍɪɴɢ Fʟᴜ, COVID-19 ᴀɴᴅ RSV sᴇᴀsᴏɴ ᴡᴀs ᴀʟsᴏ ᴀ ᴄᴏɴᴄᴇʀɴ,” said lead ᴘʟᴀsᴛɪᴄ sᴜʀɢᴇᴏɴ Granger Wong.

 

More than 30 ᴍᴇᴅɪᴄᴀʟ sᴛᴀFF ᴍᴇᴍʙᴇʀs ᴛᴏᴏᴋ ᴘᴀʀᴛ ɪɴ ᴛʜᴇ ᴍᴀʀᴀᴛʜᴏɴ sᴜʀɢᴇʀʏ. The doctors and nurses were separated into color-coded teams while they watched over the girls. Team Orange cared for Abigail while Team Purple focused on Micaela. Purple and orange ᴍᴀsᴋɪɴɢ ᴛᴀᴘᴇ was also used to label equipment in the ᴏᴘᴇʀᴀᴛɪɴɢ ʀᴏᴏᴍ.

The girls were ᴏffɪᴄɪᴀʟʟʏ sᴇᴘᴀʀᴀᴛᴇᴅ at 3:28 a.m.

“After 10 months of preparation, we were witnessing what we had all envisioned for the girls and we were overcome with emotion and joy, I will never see 3:28 on a ᴄʟᴏᴄᴋ ᴀɢᴀɪɴ and not think of the moment that Abi and Mica became two sᴇᴘᴀʀᴀᴛᴇ babies.” ” said Children’s Sᴜʀɢᴇʀʏ Cᴇɴᴛᴇʀ ɴᴜʀsɪɴɢ ʟᴇᴀᴅ Aida Benitez. “

Doctors said the 24-hour ᴘʀᴏᴄᴇᴅᴜʀᴇ ᴛᴏ sᴇᴘᴀʀᴀᴛᴇ the girls was ‘flawless.’ Their mother is grateful that her girls are already on the road to ʀᴇᴄᴏᴠᴇʀʏ.

“Everything went well. It felt almost impossible to sᴇᴘᴀʀᴀᴛᴇ them, but God and the doctors and nurses at UC Davis made it possible. We are so thankful,” Liliya said.

And now, they are prepare 2 years old , become baby girls beautiful and very happy.
