A young mother-to-be was left ᴛᴇʀʀɪFɪᴇᴅ by her pregnancy sᴄᴀɴ because it looked like she was growing a ‘ᴅᴇᴠɪʟ baby’ inside her – when her daughter looked at the camera and ɢʀɪɴned.
Iyanna Carrington, 17, from Richmond, Virginia, was at her 24-week gender sᴄᴀɴ when the midwife showed her the tiny baby’s ‘beautiful’ face – before breaking the news she was a girl. But when she rolled the doppler over Iyanna’s ʙᴜᴍᴘ a second time to give her one last look, the teenager was left ‘scared’ as her baby flashed a bizarre ‘ɢʀɪɴ’ at her with wide open eyes. But she celebrated with the baby’s dad, Raleek, as the ᴍɪᴅᴡɪFᴇ ᴄᴏɴFɪʀᴍᴇᴅ ᴛʜᴇ sʜᴏᴄᴋɪɴɢ ‘ᴅᴇᴍᴏɴ’-ʟɪᴋᴇ Fᴀᴄᴇ was perfectly normal and nothing to worry about.
The mother-to-be, who is set to welcome her first child into the world, shared the unusual sᴄᴀɴ picture on social media and said she ‘loved the ᴅᴇᴠɪʟ baby so much already’.
She said: ‘I’d never seen anything like it. I was going to see whether she was a boy or girl. I love this ᴅᴇᴠɪʟ baby so much already. They showed her face and she looked normal. Then the nurse confirmed she was girl, but I knew that deep down already. Then they put it back on her face and she was just looking right at me like that. I said ”she looks like a ɢʜᴏsᴛ” in the doctor’s office and the doctor said ”yeah, that’s very [normal]”. She looked a bit ᴄʀᴀᴢʏ.
Most babies hide from the camera. She looked towards straight at me and she scared me a bit because the room was dark.’ Following her comical sᴄᴀɴ, Ms Carrington went on to say that she knew her daughter was beautiful.
She added: ‘I don’t know why she looked like that. Some people from the internet thought she was fake, but that’s my real life baby there. The dad was there too. He was sʜᴏᴄᴋᴇᴅ by the news that she was a girl, because he has two sons and he thought it would going to be another boy. We were just laughing at the sᴄᴀɴ. You can see her little nose on [the other image]. You can tell she’s beautiful really.’
