Twins may be quite dissimilar to each other, but there is one thing they definitely have in common — their ʙɪʀᴛʜdays. However, for a new pair of twins, their ʙɪʀᴛʜ certificates will show two different years. What is Reason? Well, while they were born minutes apart, one was born on New Year’s Eve, and the other arrived after the clock struck midnight.   Michelle Sandy, 32, gave ʙɪʀᴛʜ to her tots 25 minutes apart on New Year’s Eve which means they will not have the same ʙɪʀᴛʜday. A MUM is believed to be the first in Britain to have ɪᴅᴇɴᴛɪᴄᴀʟ twins in different years.

Michelle Sandy, 32, gave ʙɪʀᴛʜ to Aliya Grace at 11.40pm on December 31. But sister Lyarna Rose arrived 23 minutes later — at 12.03am on January 1. Proud dad Dan Appleton said: “Apparently it has only ever happened before in the US.”The girls — both 4lb 8oz — were seven weeks ᴘʀᴇᴍᴀᴛᴜʀᴇ. Cleaner Michelle, who was induced at Princess Anne Hospital in Southampton, said: “We were joking, ‘What if one comes on one side of midnight and one comes on the other? I had Aliya, but that didn’t give much time to get the next one out before midnight.”

Maintenance worker Dan, 26, added: “Everyone said Happy New Year, then doctors said, ‘You need to start ᴘᴜsʜɪɴɢ because the next one is coming’. They didn’t know whether to congratulate us for having healthy babies or for having one for each year. Oɴᴄᴇ ᴛʜᴇ ᴛᴇᴀᴍ made sure both were healthy, a doctor actually Googled it, and apparently it’s only ever happened before in the US.”

The couple, from Totton, Hants, are also parents to Ruby and Amelia, both eight and Tyler, four. Twins Joaquin and Aitana de Jesus Ontiveros were born in 2017 and 2018 in California.
