When a woman get more than one infant in her uterus during pregnancy, they are called “multiples.” When a mom gives birth to twins, triplets, quadruplets, quintuplets, sextuplets, or even more babies, it is termed multiple birth. The babies may be genetically identical or genetically different. It is becoming more common for women to carry and give birth to many infants at one time due to assisted reproductive technology (ART). Multiple pregnancy also occurs naturally without the help of medical intervention.
Thelma Chiaka in the US has earned the non-existent title of ‘World’s Champion of Childbirth’ after giving birth to six babies in less than 10 minutes.Many people maybe couldn’t believe that.
Thelma Chiaka passed her sextuplets – they were of two pairs of twin boys and one pair of twin boys – between 4.50am and 4.59am at the Woman’s Hospital of Texas in Houston. The babies weighed between 1lb 12oz and 2lb and 14oz.
In an interview with her, she stated that she didn’t have no idea she was delivering six children. According to her, the initial scan revealed that she found four children, and doctors scaned , until on the birth time she gave birth the surprise sextuplets.
” We didn’t know we were having 6 babies. Initial scan showed four. We only got to know they were six on the day of delivery. God to bless us wwith such beautiful gifts, I was so excited having them.”she said
Motherhood made me realize the amount of inner strength that I never knew I had. Being a mum has taught me the act of patience, kindness, selflessness and commitment. Motherhood is more than wearing the title, its about wanting more for your children even if it is more than you’ve had.
