Parents and teachers can help children maintain a healthy weight by helping children develop healthy eating habits and curb kind of   foods alots of calorie. Help your child be physically active, reduce device usage and get enough sleep.

Add vegetables. Add more vegetables to your daily diet. However, you need to be careful to make vegetable dishes attractive and delicious to attract children’s attention.   

Choose low-calorie foods. Check the calories in each food your child eats each day. Should choose lean meat, poultry, fish, lentils and beans to supplement protein, thereby helping to provide adequate nutrients for the child’s body without causing weight gain.

Remind children to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. This is one of the most important ways to control the eating habits of obese children.

Do not store junk food. If you have overweight children in the house, you need to avoid buying or giving junk food to them. The additives, flavors and preservatives used in processed foods are not good for children’s health.

Limit sugar. Eating a lot of sugar only hinders the child’s weight loss process.

Do not eat while watching TV. Snacking while watching TV is one of the main reasons why children become obese. Encourage children to play outdoors, thereby helping them to be more active.

Encourage children to be active every day: Children need at least 60 minutes of physical activity per day (for normal children and overweight and obese children) or 30 minutes per day (for malnourished children) through sports that are good for physical development. Physical activities such as swimming, football, basketball, badminton… Regular exercise will help to consume excess energy (in obese children) as well as promote metabolism in malnourished children, help children eat palatability and maximum nutrient absorption.

In addition, mothers need to minimize children’s passive time (no more than 1 hour/day) by limiting children’s viewing of television and electronic devices, playing games, etc.

The goal of overweight children is to reduce the rate of weight gain while allowing the child to grow and develop normally.

Remember that children imitate adults. Start adding physical activity to your own routine and encouraging your child to join you.
